The Shining was Ko-Jo Cue’s first project on BBnZ Live, released in September 2014 as a free download that was downloaded more than 12,000 times. It plays more like an album than a mixtape: 11 tracks and about 43 minutes. Streaming services list it under a later date.
“Low Key”, with Klu and E.L, was the lead single. M.anifest joins him on “Burger Highlife”, Blackway on “Pretty, Please” and Eli on “Ewiase”. “Bantama Blues 1 & 2”, nearly seven minutes long, is named after the Kumasi suburb where he grew up, a title he later gave to his own label. Wanlov, M3nsa, Dex Kwasi and M.anifest all named it one of the standout projects of its year.
