Habib Koité, from a lineage of Khassonké griots, developed a guitar style that tunes the instrument to a pentatonic scale and plays open strings like the kamale n'goni. He formed Bamada in 1988, released Muso Ko in 1995, and two of its songs appeared in Windows Vista's sample music.
