Mo Abudu takes EbonyLife Place to London, unveiling the UK's first cinema dedicated to African and Black films. The Nigerian media mogul has announced that EbonyLife Place London will open in October 2026, bringing a new cultural hub to the heart of the city.
A New Cultural Destination in London
EbonyLife Place London will be the first cinema in the United Kingdom dedicated exclusively to African and Black films. The venue will feature an auditorium, restaurant, lounge, bar, retail space, and gallery celebrating African culture and entertainment. According to Mo Abudu, the project will create a vibrant cultural hub celebrating African fashion, music, food, and art. The space will include the Grand Reception, The Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail, and The Living Wall Gallery.
From Blank Canvas to Cultural Hub
Mo Abudu shared an update on the transformation of the London property, acquired in March 2025, into a cinema and cultural hub. The property, which was initially a blank canvas, has undergone a major transformation. In a video documenting the transformation, Abudu showcased the space's evolution from a dull and uninviting area to a vibrant and polished cinema aesthetic. The Amani Auditorium is now almost complete, featuring a beautiful vintage-inspired look.
Expanding the EbonyLife Place Brand
The London project expands the EbonyLife Place brand beyond Nigeria and into the UK, with the new venue positioned as a space for African and Black storytelling, culture, and entertainment. Mo Abudu founded EbonyLife Media, a global media company focused on African stories and talent. EbonyLife Place in Lagos has also served as a major entertainment and lifestyle destination, combining cinema, hospitality, food, and cultural experiences. With the launch of EbonyLife Place London, Abudu aims to bring a new level of cultural engagement to the UK.
A New Era for African Storytelling in the UK
EbonyLife Place London is set to become a significant cultural destination in the UK, offering a unique cinematic experience and a platform for African and Black storytelling. The venue will provide a space for African and Black films to be showcased, and for cultural events and experiences to take place. As the UK's first cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black films, EbonyLife Place London is poised to make a significant impact on the UK's cultural landscape. With its grand opening scheduled for October 2026, the city is eagerly awaiting the arrival of this new cultural hub.
