After Edo gridlock, Okpebholo promises better roads before Christmas

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has assured residents that ongoing road projects across the state will receive steady funding, promising visible progress before Christmas despite the rainy season.

Inspecting Road Construction Projects

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo inspected ongoing road construction projects in Esan North-East Local Government Area, where he met with officials from Setraco Nigeria Ltd. The Irrua-Uromi bypass road, one of the major projects, will feature dual carriageways measuring nine metres each, separated by a concrete median. It will also be fitted with streetlights.

Funding Commitment

The governor assured residents that road projects across the state will continue receiving funding, with visible progress expected before Christmas. He said his administration will continue to fund and support contractors handling road projects to ensure significant progress is made. Okpebholo added that contractors will continue receiving funds as they become available to keep the projects moving.

Drainage Works

The rainy season has slowed construction, with contractors currently focusing on drainage works. Construction workers carried out drainage works on the Arue-Uromi-Agbor road despite the rainy season. Okpebholo explained that heavy rainfall has limited the amount of construction that can be carried out for now, with contractors focusing mainly on drainage systems until weather conditions improve.

Contractors' Support

Okpebholo also promised that contractors would continue receiving funds as they become available to keep the projects moving. His administration remains committed to giving contractors the support they need to complete the projects, expressing optimism that improved roads would make travelling easier for residents and motorists, especially during the busy Christmas season.

What Happens Next

Residents will now be watching closely to see whether the governor's promise of noticeable progress before Christmas becomes reality. The Edo State governor has assured contractors handling different road projects across the state that his administration will continue funding the projects so they can make noticeable progress before Christmas. With the rainy season slowing construction, it remains to be seen whether the governor's promise will be fulfilled.
