PHOTOS: Priscilla Ojo finally reveals her son Rakeem’s face on his first birthday after keeping him hidden for a year

Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo has revealed the face of her son, Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, for the first time as he celebrates his first birthday on Monday, August 24, 2026. The couple, who have been keeping their son's face private throughout his first year, shared photos of Rakeem on Instagram to mark the milestone.

Celebrating a Milestone

Rakeem Mkambala is one year old today. For most of his first year, his parents deliberately kept his face away from the public while still sharing glimpses of their life with him. Priscilla Ojo and her Tanzanian husband, singer Juma Jux, have finally chosen his first birthday to introduce him properly.

The decision to keep Rakeem's face private for a year was intentional, as Priscilla had previously made clear. Amid questions and criticism from some social media users, she said she would show her son's face when she was ready, rather than because people were demanding it.

A Cheeky, Happy Child

Alongside the photos, Priscilla shared an emotional birthday message celebrating the little boy and reflecting on how quickly his first year had passed. “We blinked, and a whole year passed,” she wrote, describing Rakeem as a “cheeky, happy” and clever child who lights up every room he enters. She also reflected on the past 365 days of motherhood, writing about cuddling him, watching his personality develop and seeing his curiosity and joy grow.

A Family's Love and Gratitude

Priscilla and Juma called their son their “greatest answered prayer” and prayed that he would grow up healthy, happy and full of purpose. They also asked that God guide his steps and that his laughter never stop. For them, the occasion is about celebrating their son reaching one, but for the thousands of people who have followed his first year from a distance, it is also the first chance to finally put a face to the little boy they have heard so much about.

Rakeem Mkambala is one year old today. After 12 months of waiting, Rakeem is no longer the mystery baby behind carefully cropped photographs. His parents have finally decided that the time is right for the world to see him.
