A 30-year-old man, Olukanyinsola Odebode, has been jailed for 12 years after committing new sex crimes while on bail. Swansea Crown Court handed down the extended prison term to Odebode for raping one woman and sexually assaulting another while he was on bail.

Odebode was convicted at trial of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration at Swansea Crown Court. The offences occurred between June 2024 and September 2025 across the Gwent Police and Dyfed-Powys Police areas in Wales.
Victim Impact Statements Detail Emotional and Psychological Impact
Victim impact statements presented in court detailed the emotional and psychological impact of Odebode's actions. One victim described him as "very predatory" and accused him of humiliating and degrading his victims. The court also heard that seven other women had previously reported concerns about Odebode's sexual behaviour to police since 2019, but those allegations did not result in convictions.
Odebode's History and Risk Assessment
Odebode, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, had no previous convictions before the case. However, a Probation Service report found that Odebode showed a lack of insight into his actions and had completely rejected the jury's findings. The report concluded that he posed a high risk of serious harm, linked to what it described as "attitudes of entitlement."
Extended Sentence Due to Risk to Public
Prosecutor Mark Wyeth KC told the court that Odebode posed a danger to women and that his actions had caused "life-altering consequences" for his victims. Judge Huw Rees said evidence presented during the trial and reports before the court led him to conclude that Odebode was a "sexually precocious person" and that his behaviour had a "profound" impact on the two victims. The judge ruled that an extended sentence was necessary because of the risk Odebode posed to the public.
Odebode's Sentence and Registration
Odebode was sentenced to 12 years, made up of nine years in custody followed by three years on licence. He will serve two-thirds of the custodial portion before he can apply for release, with the Parole Board deciding whether he is safe to be released. He will also remain on the sex offenders' register for life.
