After seven years, Sunshine Rosman has signed out of the University of Lagos. The actress completed her undergraduate journey on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and shared photos from the milestone on her Instagram page, reflecting on the difficulties she faced as a student.
"These past 7 years have been challenging, but we overcame & we really did it together!" she wrote.
The university run was demanding because she was building an acting career while studying. In an August 2025 interview with The PUNCH, Rosman recalled how her commitments sometimes clashed. She was preparing for school examinations when she was offered a role in Kemi Adetiba's To Kill a Monkey and had to decide whether to defer a semester or take the opportunity. She wrote her exams first, then joined the Netflix production, where she played Amanda Sparkles.
Now that the university chapter is closed, Rosman is looking beyond Nigeria. In a recent interview with comedian and filmmaker AY Makun, she said she wants to be the lead in an Indian film, though she is also interested in Spanish productions. She explained that her appearance gives her the flexibility to portray characters from different backgrounds.
"I've seen that I can play an Indian character very comfortably, in terms of my features and what I look like," she said.
She added that she could also play a Spanish girl and described both types of roles as opportunities she wants to explore during her lifetime. Taking on a leading role in an Indian production would require serious preparation. Rosman said she would be willing to spend one or two years learning the language if necessary.
Her interest in characters outside Nigeria comes with her own mixed family background. Rosman is Nigerian-Canadian. Her mother is from Imo State, and her late father, Giovanni Rosman, was Canadian of Italian descent. She grew up in Lagos, including Ijeshatedo in Surulere, Magodo and Bode Thomas. She has said entertainment was part of her family life, recalling how she and her sisters would put on little plays and perform songs for their father when they were children.
Her career began professionally in 2015 with Lunch Time Heroes. She has since appeared in projects including When Love Strikes, Our Best Friend's Wedding, Pretty Thief, and To Kill a Monkey.
Rosman's seven-year university journey started in 2019, meaning she began her degree around the same time she was taking on more substantial roles. The balancing act between campus and film sets defined much of that period. In the interview with Makun, she did not specify which Indian or Spanish film industries she meant, but her comments suggest she sees her features as an advantage in markets where casting often depends on specific looks.
The actress has not announced any concrete international projects. Her statements so far are about ambition rather than signed contracts. But she has been direct about the preparation she is willing to put in. Learning a language for one or two years, if that is what a lead role requires, is a commitment she says she is ready to make.
Her graduation comes at a point when her filmography already spans Nollywood productions and a Netflix title. Whether an Indian or Spanish lead role materializes remains to be seen, but Rosman has put the goal on record.
