Tonto Dikeh, a former Nollywood actress, has launched a Christian prayer ministry in Abuja, Nigeria. The ministry, called New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle, is an interdenominational altar dedicated to prayer, revival, spiritual training, and the awakening of consecrated believers.

Tonto Dikeh, 40, kicked off her ministry in Abuja, after months of announcing her plans to go into ministry. In a video clip shared on her Instagram page, the former Nollywood star was captured leading a powerful prayer session in her newly launched New Wine Prophetic Ministry.
She described her ministry as an intense gathering of those consecrated and equipped for the purposes of God. Tonto Dikeh added that her ministry is not a church but an intense gathering of those consecrated and equipped for the purposes of God.
From Screen to Pulpit
Tonto Dikeh's decision to leave acting for ministry is not unique in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Several figures from the industry have become ministers of God. Similarly, screen icon Liz Benson retired from acting after being ordained at Rainbow Christian Assembly in Warri, Delta State, pastored by her husband, Bishop Great Emeya.
A Controversial Embrace of Faith
Tonto Dikeh's vocal embrace of her Christian faith has not been without controversy. In March 2026, a video where she was performing a deliverance on a schoolgirl went viral online and led to massive criticism, including the threat of a lawsuit by a Human Rights Lawyer.
