Who Is SPACE THE RULER? The Zimbabwean Artist Behind the 26-Track Slut Pink City (Edition)

On 25 September 2026, a Zimbabwean artist most listeners have not heard of yet released a 26-track album. Six days later, on his 21st birthday, he released an EP. For SPACE THE RULER, that counts as a normal fortnight.

The album is Slut Pink City (Edition), an 81-minute run of alternative R&B and rap with no guest features. His team bills it as his fourth studio album. It is also, by the count on Apple Music, the nineteenth album or EP he has put out since August 2025.

Who is SPACE THE RULER?

His real name is Walter Tadiwanashe Svubure. He was born on 1 October 2005 in Wedza, a district in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland East province, and he now works between Zimbabwe and South Africa. He raps, sings and produces, and he does it without an outside label behind him. By his own account he also records, mixes and masters the songs himself and directs the visuals.

That last part is central to how he presents himself. His releases come out through Sound80, which is the recording arm of YAE (Your Authentic Expression), a company he runs that handles his music, fashion and visuals. His official biography lists four ventures in all. The line his website keeps returning to is “From Wedza, Zimbabwe to the world. Entirely on his own terms.”

According to that biography, he started releasing music in 2024. The earliest song of his on the major streaming services is “Remeber”, from May 2025. His debut album, RnSpaceB, followed on 1 August that year.

A catalogue built at speed

What he has done since is the unusual part. From May to November 2025 he released a single almost every week. Then came the EP Sex, Money & Power and the album Y2k in December, and an expanded Y2k (Upgraded) in February 2026.

On 29 May 2026 he released three albums on the same day: Spaceman, Peachdeluxe and Crown. A week before that he had put out the 14-track Venus (Continued). His website puts the total at more than 141 songs before his 21st birthday, at a rate of six or more a month, and the release list on Apple Music backs up the pace: 58 separate releases in under 17 months.

Whether anyone can keep up with that much music is a fair question. Very few artists release this often, and the ones who do usually have an audience waiting. SPACE THE RULER is building the catalogue first.

The Planetary Series

Running through 2026 is a set of six-track EPs he calls the Planetary Series. Mercury opened it in March, Venus followed in April, and then came Kepler (22-B), Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and, on 18 September, Urano. He describes each one as its own chapter with a different mood, and his site makes a promise about where it goes next: “This series doesn’t end until the solar system does.”

The series swings between the two sides of his music. Some entries are filed as hip-hop on the streaming services, others, like Venus and Moon, as R&B.

Inside Slut Pink City (Edition)

The new album sits on the R&B side. It began as Slut Pink, a five-track EP released on 19 June with the songs “Babygirl”, “I Love When You”, “Slut Pink”, “Eras” and “Back to Me”. All five are on the album, in the same order, as tracks six to ten.

Four singles followed over the next two and a half months and they are here too. “Whachu Doing out in Dbn?”, which uses the common shorthand for Durban, came out a week after the EP. “Lose All Your Manners” arrived on 31 July, “Twenty+” on 7 August and “Which One to Pick” on 1 September. His team suggests “Lose All Your Manners” and “Twenty+” as the two places to start.

That leaves 17 songs that had not been out as singles or on the EP. The title track opens it, “Eras” is the longest thing on it at just over four minutes, and “Chanel Sex” closes it. Titles like “Dirty Diana”, “Dubai Kisses” and “Spacecation” give a fair idea of the subject matter, and all but two of the 26 tracks carry an explicit tag.

As for the “fourth studio album” label, his biography names RnSpaceB, Y2k (Upgraded) and Venus (Continued) as the cornerstone projects of his catalogue. Slut Pink City (Edition) appears to be the fourth in that line, with the EPs and the shorter albums counted separately.

What came next

He did not wait long. On 1 October, the day he turned 21, he released Birthday Spaceial, a five-track EP that includes “Bottega Baddie”, “Calamari” and “Hello Kitty”.

Where to listen

Slut Pink City (Edition) is on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Deezer. You can preview all 26 tracks on the album page, and the rest of his albums and EPs are on his AfroYard profile.
