Asake

Asake is Ahmed Ololade, a Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter born in Lagos on 13 January 1995. He studied Theatre and Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University. His style draws on fuji, street-pop and amapiano log drums, usually with a choir-like wall of backing vocals.

After a quiet stint on TFT Records he broke out in early 2022 with “Mr. Money”, then “Omo Ope” and “Sungba”. Olamide signed him to YBNL that February. His debut album Mr. Money with the Vibe (September 2022) set an Apple Music record for the biggest opening day by an African album and entered the Billboard 200 at number 66. Work of Art (2023) matched that position and went silver in the UK.

Lungu Boy (2024), with Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy and Travis Scott, set a Spotify record for a Nigerian album’s opening-day streams and became the longest-running number one in Nigerian chart history. He has since released Real, Vol. 1 and M$NEY (2026). His honours include Headies, AFRIMA and MOBO awards and two Grammy nominations.
