Biography
Diamond Platnumz is Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, a Tanzanian singer, dancer and businessman who grew up in Tandale, Dar es Salaam. He started recording at 15, paying for studio time with money from selling clothes, and his first single was “Toka Mwanzo”.
“Kamwambie” (2010) was his breakthrough, winning three Tanzania Music Awards, and his debut album took the same name. Lala Salama followed in 2012. A BET nomination in 2014 and a string of pan-African collaborations made him the region’s biggest export. He signed with Universal in 2017 for A Boy from Tandale (2018). In 2021 his label WCB Wasafi agreed a partnership with Warner Music. “Waah”, with Koffi Olomide, passed 100 million YouTube views, and he was the first Africa-based artist to reach 900 million views on the platform.
The First Of All EP (2022) brought in Zuchu, Adekunle Gold and Focalistic, and “Komasava” (2024) became one of his widest-reaching songs. Through WCB Wasafi he has launched Harmonize, Rayvanny, Mbosso and Zuchu. He also runs Wasafi Media and has won several MTV EMAs.
