Biography
Eddy Kenzo is Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza, a Ugandan singer and music executive born in Masaka on 25 December 1989. His mother died when he was about five, and he spent much of the next thirteen years on the streets of Masaka and Kampala. He wanted to be a footballer before music took over.
He began recording as Eddy Kenzo in 2008. “Stamina” (2010) made him a star at home and won him Best New Artist at the 2011 Pearl of Africa Music Awards, and he founded Big Talent Entertainment the same year. “Sitya Loss” (2014) went global when a video of the Ghetto Kids dancing to it spread online. In 2015 he became the first Ugandan and first East African to win a BET Award.
His albums include Zero to Hero (2016), Biology (2017), Roots (2018) and Made in Africa (2021). “Gimme Love” with Matt B made him the first Ugandan artist nominated for a Grammy. He is president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation and serves as a presidential advisor on the creative industry.
