Biography
Fireboy DML is Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan, a Nigerian singer and songwriter born on 5 February 1996 and raised in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He sang in his church choir and found his way into music while studying English at Obafemi Awolowo University.
Olamide signed him to YBNL in 2018, and “Jealous”, first heard on the label’s compilation, became his breakthrough. His debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps (2019) had no guest features and still produced “What If I Say”, “King” and “Vibration”. Apollo (2020) earned an 8.3 from Pitchfork.
“Peru” (2021) changed his career, and its remix with Ed Sheeran reached number two in the UK and went platinum in the US. Playboy (2022) entered the Billboard 200. He has since sung on Justin Timberlake’s “Liar” and released Adedamola (2024), with Jon Batiste and Lagbaja, and Peace by Piece (2025).
