Biography
Kay-T is the stage name of Kwaku Tenkorang Obeng, a UK-born Ghanaian rapper and video director. He was born on 11 May 1994. Behind the camera he works as KTO and runs his own company, Hawk Eye Cinema. His biography credits him with videos for Medikal, Odunsi and Darkovibes, and he directs his own too, “Ghost” among them.
His oldest release is the EP 2015, dated to his 21st birthday. “Teeshi”, a trap song with Kirani Ayat and RJZ, got him noticed in 2017. Two projects followed in 2019: a self-titled six-track EP in July and Splash Brothers, a ten-track joint album with Burn TBA, in October. Burn TBA, Freddy Hayz and A-Clipse are his partners in the TSD crew, and the four appear together on several TSD singles.
“Ghost”, released in October 2020 with Ahtitude and Medikal, was by his own account the first of his songs to reach the mainstream in Ghana. Medikal is his most frequent collaborator. The two share “Bridesmaid”, “Obi Ne Yem”, “Bass”, “Yenda” and “PA”, and Kay-T is on Medikal’s “God Abeg” with Joey B and Kwesi Arthur. “Loose” reunited him with RJZ and Kirani Ayat in February 2025, and the four-track THIS IS NOT 4 YOU followed that October.
