Kwaku DMC, born Derrick Okyere Brobbey, is a rapper from Kumasi. DMC stands for Da Music Child, and he also calls himself King Kong Nyame. He started writing rhymes around 2009 and says it took him until 2016 to find his voice.
He is one of the core members of the Asakaa movement and was part of the Life Living Records circle that shaped it. His Road to TrApHouse mixtape series, including Road to Trap House 2 (2020) and RoadToTrApHouse3 (2021), built his following. Road to the Jungle (2022) brought his “gorillas over goats” motto to a wider audience. He raps in Twi and English and sees himself as the most quotable rapper in Ghana.
He features on Smallgod’s “Sinner” with Headie One and O’Kenneth and on Amerado’s “Fa Me Saa”. He is also a fixture on Asakaa group records such as “Y3 Y3 Dom”, “Hustlers Dream” with Jay Bahd, and “Tsoobi (Akonoba)”.
