Nasty C

Nasty C (born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, 11 February 1997, Diepkloof, Soweto) is a South African rapper, songwriter, record producer and label owner from Durban. He moved to Durban as a baby after losing his mother in a car crash at 11 months old, was raised by his father David Maviyo Ngcobo, and learned production basics at nine from his older brother Siyabonga. He released his first mixtape at 14 and completed 12th grade at Strelitzia Secondary School in Lotus Park.

His 2015 mixtape Price City and its single ‘Juice Back’ broke him nationally, winning Best Freshman at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards — the youngest recipient that year. Debut album Bad Hair followed in 2016, Strings and Bling in 2018 through Universal Music South Africa. He signed a joint venture with Def Jam in 2020 and released Zulu Man with Some Power that August. I Love It Here came out through Def Jam in 2023.

He left Def Jam in 2025 and went independent under his own label Tall Racks, releasing his fifth album Free on 12 September 2025. The album hit number one on Apple Music in 12 countries and charted in 45; he was the only rapper in Spotify’s Top 10 Global South African Artists that year. In 2025 he also relaunched Tall Racks as a distribution and career-management platform for independent artists. A deluxe edition of Free and a project titled No Typo have followed in 2026. He is nicknamed Ivyson and ‘The Coolest Kid in Africa’.
