Biography
Omah Lay is Omah Stanley Didia, a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer born in Port Harcourt on 19 May 1997. Music runs in the family: his grandfather played in Celestine Ukwu’s band and his father played drums. He started in a rap group as Lil Street King and was writing and producing for others by 16.
He went solo in 2019 and signed with KeyQaad. The Get Layd EP (2020) topped Apple Music in Nigeria, with “Bad Influence” and “You”, and What Have We Done followed that November with “Godly”. He won Next Rated at The Headies that year. “Understand” (2021) and “Attention” (2022), with Justin Bieber, took him further afield.
His debut album Boy Alone (2022), home to “Soso”, won Best Male Artist and Album of the Year at the 2023 Headies, and that year he passed a billion Spotify streams. He sang on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack, released “Holy Ghost”, and in April 2026 put out Clarity of Mind. He also runs his own company, Boy Alone.
