Biography
Stonebwoy is Livingstone Etse Satekla, a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist born in Ashaiman on 5 March 1988, with family roots in Anloga in the Volta Region. He went to Tema Methodist Day Senior High, and in 2024 he graduated from GIMPA in public administration. He sings mostly in Jamaican patois, mixed with Ewe, Twi and English.
His debut album Grade 1 (2012) was followed by Necessary Evil (2014), which won three Ghana Music Awards. In 2015 he won the BET Award for Best International Act: Africa and was named Artiste of the Year in Ghana. Epistles of Mama (2017), Anloga Junction (2020), with “Putuu”, and a stream of collaborations with Sean Paul, Keri Hilson, Beenie Man and Davido established him across the diaspora. He runs his own label, Burniton Music Group.
He signed with Def Jam in 2022, and 5th Dimension (2023) entered Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart at number eight. He was named Artiste of the Year again at the 2024 Ghana Music Awards. Up & Runnin6 followed in 2024, then Torcher II in 2026. His Livingstone Foundation supports education and healthcare.
