Tresor

Tresor is Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki, a singer, songwriter and producer born in Goma, DR Congo, on 24 April 1987 and based in South Africa. He lost both parents as a teenager and left home in 2007. After months on the road he settled in Durban, working as a car guard by day and a security guard at night while playing session gigs.

Sony signed him in 2015. “Never Let Me Go”, co-written with Beatenberg’s Matthew Field, went five times platinum, and his debut album VII, seven years in the making, carried “Mount Everest” to the top of dance charts in Italy. It won Best Pop Album at the 2016 SAMAs. The Beautiful Madness (2017) and Nostalgia (2019) both won Best Afro Pop Album. In 2021 he joined Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa on Rumble in the Jungle and released Motion.

He has also become a songwriter and producer for major international acts. He co-wrote Drake’s “Fountains” featuring Tems, and in 2022 worked on six songs from Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind, reaching number 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songwriters chart.
