Biography

Young Stunna is Sandile Fortune Msimango, a South African amapiano singer born on 17 November 1997 in Daveyton. He grew up in a Christian family and sang in the church choir. His mother was a singer and his father owned a tavern with a jukebox, where weekends exposed him to R&B and kwaito. He went to school in Benoni and finished matric at Unity Secondary School in Daveyton. Fans in Daveyton gave him his stage name.

He started making music at 13 and rapped from 2012 before switching to amapiano. He rose to fame in 2021 on the Piano Hub roster with Felo Le Tee and Mellow & Sleazy’s “Bopha”. His debut album, Notumato (October 2021), with DJ Maphorisa, Blxckie, Sizwe Alakine and Kabza De Small, debuted at number 1 and went platinum, and “Adiwele” reached number 1 across South African radio.

“uNonkosi” (2023) pays tribute to his family; Nonkosi is the Msimango clan name. His second album, Busisiwe, arrived in October 2026 with Kabza De Small on several songs, including “UMLENZE” with Focalistic and Djy Vino.
