Cori Bush children: Meet Zion and Brianna

Cori Bush is a multifaceted figure: a Democrat politician, registered nurse, community activist, single mother, and ordained pastor.

Elected in 2020, she currently represents Missouri’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

She’s the first Black woman and first nurse to represent Missouri, the first woman to represent Missouri’s 1st Congressional District, and the first activist from the Black Lives Matter movement elected to Congress.

Cori Bush children: Meet Zion Cori and Brianna Cori

Cori Bush, a Democratic Representative from Missouri, is a proud mother of two children: Zion and Brianna.

Zion , Cori’s first child, was born prematurely at 23 weeks. Despite the odds, Zion survived after a month on a ventilator and four months in intensive care. Today, he is a healthy young adult.

Brianna , Cori’s second child, was also born prematurely.

Sixteen weeks into her second pregnancy, Cori went into early labor.

Despite a doctor’s insistence that the baby would be lost and wasn’t worth trying to save, Cori fought for her child.

Cori‘s experiences as a mother have deeply influenced her work as a politician. She has used her platform to advocate for improved maternal health, particularly for Black women.

In an emotional testimony during Congressional hearings on the issue of Black maternal health, Cori shared her personal experiences and called for changes in the healthcare system.
