The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new system that allows candidates to verify and upload their O'level results from home without visiting a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre. The update was announced by JAMB's Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, on Monday.
Uploading WAEC or NECO Results Made Easy
JAMB has integrated its system with examination bodies, starting with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), so candidates' results can now be verified directly from the source before they are uploaded to their JAMB profiles. This move is part of JAMB's efforts to make its services easier and reduce the frustration many candidates face every admission season.
According to Benjamin, the Board has facilitated the verification of candidates' O'Level results directly from the various examination bodies responsible for conducting the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), beginning with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Consequently, candidates can now upload their O'Level results from the comfort of their homes, while the Board undertakes the verification of such results directly with the issuing examination bodies.
Steps to Upload WAEC or NECO Results from Home
Candidates can complete the verification process by following these steps: Enter your National Identification Number (NIN) and verify it. Choose whether you're uploading one or two sittings and select the examination body. Enter your email address and phone number. Make payment using a debit card or bank transfer.
Once you have your Verification Code, send VERIFY followed by your Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. You'll receive a notification once your result has been uploaded. Candidates using two sittings should log into their JAMB e-Facility profile, click 2026 UTME O'Level Upload, enter their Verification Code, select the required subjects from the verified results, and confirm the submission.
What the New System Means for Candidates
The new process is expected to reduce long queues at CBT centres, network issues, and delays. By using technology to reduce unnecessary visits to CBT centres, queues, and manual processes, JAMB is putting candidate ease of service delivery at the centre of its operations. The Board also said the new process will help prevent cases where candidates submit fake or incorrect results or where subjects and grades are entered wrongly during manual uploads.
The initiative is part of the Board's renewed commitment to making services easier, faster, safer, and more convenient for candidates. The Board will continue to deploy technology and collaborate with relevant examination and government agencies to make its services simpler, safer, and more accessible to candidates. For thousands of UTME candidates preparing for admission, this means one less queue to stand in and one less trip to a CBT centre.
