Black Sherif

Black Sherif is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, a Ghanaian singer and rapper born on 9 January 2002 in Konongo-Zongo in the Ashanti Region. With his parents mostly working abroad, he was raised from about ten by his aunt and extended family. He went to Kumasi Academy and later studied at the University of Ghana.

He started posting songs in 2019. “First Sermon” (May 2021) and “Second Sermon” (July 2021) made him the voice of the moment, and the latter got a Burna Boy remix. “Kwaku the Traveller” (March 2022) topped Apple Music in Ghana and Nigeria, and his debut album The Villain I Never Was followed that October. His sound runs Twi-language drill, highlife and reggae together with a rawness that makes his writing hit hard.

His second album Iron Boy came out in April 2025 and earned him a BET Award nomination. In September 2026 he released the SUN SHERIF EP. He was the first Ghanaian to perform at Wireless in the UK, has played MOBO and Afro Nation stages, and features on Davido’s 2026 album Oriadé.
