DJ Maphorisa

DJ Maphorisa, born Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe on November 15, 1987, is a South African DJ, record producer, songwriter, and vocalist.

He is one of Africa’s most influential music producers, known for shaping the sounds of Amapiano, Afrobeats, Gqom, and house music.

He first gained recognition as a producer with Uhuru before launching a successful solo career. Over the years, he has produced and collaborated with artists including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Drake, Major Lazer, Black Coffee, Kabza De Small, Tyler ICU, and Young Stunna.

As one half of the acclaimed Scorpion Kings duo alongside Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa has released several chart-topping projects and hit songs such as “Izolo,” “Abalele,” “Sponono,” “Banyana,” and “Mnike.” His production work has earned him international acclaim, making him one of the most respected figures in African music.
