Kofi Jamar

Kofi Jamar is Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh, a rapper and singer from Bantama in Kumasi, born in 1995. He went to Bethel Preparatory School in the same class years as Amerado, and records with Gadone Records.

His big moment came in 2021 with “Ekorso”, a song that grew out of Kumasi’s Kumerica and Asakaa drill wave and featured Yaw Tog and Ypee. It was one of the most-played Ghanaian songs of the year, and at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards he picked up seven nominations. He followed The Truth EP (2020) with Appetite For Destruction (2021).

His style sits between drill and melodic rap, and he switches easily between Twi and English. He is a regular guest on other Kumasi artists’ records, including Amerado’s “We Outside” and “Aseda”, and has performed at Ghana Party in the Park and the Ghana Music Awards UK.
