Kofi Kinaata

Kofi Kinaata is Martin King Arthur, a singer, rapper and songwriter born on 15 April 1990 and raised in Effiakuma, Takoradi. He is known for rapping in Fante, which earned him the nickname Fante Rap God, and for lyrics that are funny, sharp and often about ordinary people’s problems.

He was runner-up in a Melody FM rap contest in 2009 and released his first single, “Obi Ne Ba”, in 2011. In 2013 he joined Samini’s High Grade Family. “Made in Taadi” (2015) became an anthem in the Western Region, and “Confession” (2016) made him a national name. Ghana’s players danced to it at AFCON 2017, and KNUST used its lyrics in an English literature course. It helped him win Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards.

He went independent with Team Move Music after his High Grade contract ended in 2018. Hits such as “Things Fall Apart” (2019), “Behind the Scenes” and “Thy Grace” followed, and he has won Songwriter of the Year three times in a row. His first EP, Kofi OO Kofi (2024), includes “Auntie Ama” and “Effiakuma Broken Heart”, and his Made in Taadi concert is a Christmas fixture in Takoradi.
