Mahoota

Mahoota is a South African DJ and producer and one half of Vetkuk vs Mahoota, the house and kwaito duo that has been playing South African dance floors since 2001. His early credits include “Malombo”, and the pair joined forces in 2001 with the compilation Vetkuk vs Mahoota.

The duo’s albums include Local Everywhere (2018), Common Factor and Let’s Play Piano (both 2022), released through their own Hootas Records. Most of Mahoota’s releases are shared with Vetkuk, so the duo’s albums are listed on Vetkuk’s profile.

In the amapiano era the pair have worked with DJ Maphorisa, Xduppy, Uncool MC and Mark Khoza. Their latest single, “Putuku”, came out on 6 November 2026.
