Master KG

Master KG is Kgaogelo Moagi, a South African producer, DJ and singer born in Tzaneen on 31 January 1996 and raised in Calais village, Limpopo. He started making beats at 13 on a computer his late uncle bought him, then learned FL Studio alongside DJ Maebela.

He released his first single, “Situation”, in 2016, and signed with Open Mic Productions. “Skeleton Move”, with Zanda Zakuza, set off a dance craze. His debut album of the same name (2018) won him an AFRIMA award, and he is credited with popularising the Bolobedu dance. He sings in Khelobedu.

“Jerusalema” (December 2019), with Nomcebo Zikode, became one of the biggest African songs ever made. It went viral during the 2020 lockdowns, spawned a dance challenge worldwide, got a remix with Burna Boy, went diamond in France and topped Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. His second album took its name. He later worked with David Guetta and Akon on “Shine Your Light” (2021), and his joint album Makhelwane (2024) with Nkosazana Daughter went gold.
