“See now you shouting / Ajei ajei ajei ajei.” That is the hook of Kuami Eugene’s new single, and it was built to be shouted back. “Ajei” came out on 22 October 2026 with a “fun video” on his YouTube channel the same day, and that clip had passed 430,000 views by early November. Dance-challenge videos using the song were already appearing on TikTok within days.
Hear it on AfroYard’s “Ajei” page, which links to Apple Music and Spotify.
Kuami Eugene “Ajei”: the song
“Ajei” is 2 minutes and 41 seconds long, and the copyright line on Apple Music reads “Clear Road Music Records / ONErpm”. Kuami Eugene posted the full lyrics in the video description, which saves anyone from guessing. The song opens with “Congratulations to you” and a call to “ladies and gentlemen”, and the chorus trades two exclamations: “See now you crying / Buei buei buei buei / See now you shouting / Ajei ajei ajei ajei”.

It is a flirty, adult song, sung in English with Twi woven through. Lines such as “Connect the rocket to your socket” and “Tonight I dey on you” leave little doubt about the subject. A bridge repeats “Eda wo so, Da wo so” four times over. Kuami Eugene has written love songs and breakup songs for nearly a decade, and he is comfortable with a cheeky one.
The official upload does not name a producer. A separate YouTube upload from the account Beatz Vampire Craze carries the label “prod by beatz vampire craze”, but until the stores’ credits appear, treat that as unconfirmed. Kuami Eugene is a producer himself, and he took Producer of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards.
Built for the challenge
Calling the first video a “Fun Video” rather than an official music video was a choice. It invites people to copy it, and they did. Posts tagged as an “Ajei dance challenge” were circulating by 26 October. In 2026, that is how a Ghanaian single spreads first, before radio has caught up.
Where he is now
Kuami Eugene is Eugene Kwame Marfo, born in Akim Oda on 1 February 1997 and raised around Fadama in Accra. He came third on MTN Hitmaker in 2016, signed with Lynx Entertainment, and broke through with “Angela” (2017) and its sequel “Confusion”. His debut album Rockstar (2018) won Album of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards, the same night Amakye Dede publicly named him his successor in highlife. He was Artiste of the Year in 2020.

His most recent album, Renaissance: Echoes of the Rockstar, came out in May 2026 and looked back at the run that made him. “Ajei” follows it, and it is lighter on purpose. He moved from Lynx to Empire in 2022, and the Clear Road Music Records credit on “Ajei” is worth watching as a sign of how he is putting out music now.
Watch the fun video, try the chorus, and then go back to “Angela” for the Kuami Eugene who started it all.
