Efya

Efya is the stage name of Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, a Ghanaian singer, songwriter and actress born in Kumasi on 10 April 1987. Her mother is the filmmaker and TV host Nana Adwoa Awindor. She was singing by nine and studied theatre and music at the University of Ghana.

She came third on the first season of Stars of the Future in 2006, then formed the duo Irene & Jane with the winner, Irene Logan. They released the album Unveiled before splitting in 2008. Going solo as Efya, she signed with One Nation Entertainment in 2011 and won Best Female Vocal Performance at the Ghana Music Awards four years running, from 2011 to 2014.

Her mixtape T.I.N.T (2013) carried “Best In Me”, and her long-awaited debut album Janesis arrived in April 2016 with “Forgetting Me”, “Jorley” and “One of Your Own”. Her voice sits between Afro-soul and pop. She sang on Mr Eazi’s “Skin Tight”, Eno Barony’s “God Is a Woman” and Amerado’s G.I.N.A.
