Biography
Jay Bahd, born Jackson Kwadwo Bawuah, is a rapper from Kumasi and one of the leading members of the Asakaa Boys, the crew that made Ghanaian drill, or Asakaa, a global talking point from 2020.
His single “Condemn”, with O’Kenneth, was one of the first Asakaa records to spread beyond the city. That year he was also part of Yaw Tog’s “Sore” and Kawabanga’s “Akatafoc”, the two songs that took “Kumerica” worldwide. He raps in Twi with a heavy, deliberate delivery and writes about street life and loyalty.
His projects are Return of Okomfo Anokye (2021), Behind The Scene (2024), The Return of Okomfo Anokye II (2025) and Beastmode Vol. 1 (2026). He also features regularly for other artists, from Eno Barony’s “Street Love” to group records with Kwaku DMC, Reggie, City Boy and Skyface SDW.
