Jay Bahd is not slowing down. The Kumasi drill rapper released “Ensi” on Saturday 7 November, his third solo single of 2026 after “FACE” in April and “YEBE SO” in July.
Jay Bahd’s “Ensi”: his third single of 2026
Jay Bahd has always been more than a guest verse. His solo catalogue has grown steadily since the Asakaa wave broke out of Kumasi in 2020: Return of Okomfo Anokye (2021), Behind The Scene (2024), The Return of Okomfo Anokye II (2025) and Beastmode Vol. 1 this year.
“Ensi” arrived quietly, with no official video yet, but his audience tends to find his records. The “FACE” video, from the Beastmode Vol. 1 project, has passed 170,000 views, and “Ka Si Manim” has gone past 1.5 million.
A busy year for the Asakaa star
2026 has kept him in demand. In October he joined De Light on “Lemme Be”, and last year he appeared next to Kwaku DMC on Sarkodie’s “HUSTLERS DREAM”, putting him on a record with one of the rappers the Kumasi generation grew up on.
He also keeps returning to the crew sound that made his name. “Wasteman / Y3 Y3 DOM” brought him back together with Skyface SDW, Reggie, Kwaku DMC, City Boy, Kawabanga and O’Kenneth in 2025.
From “Condemn” to his own label
Jay Bahd, born Jackson Kwadwo Bawuah, was one of the leading members of the Asakaa Boys, the crew that made Ghanaian drill a global talking point. “Condemn”, his posse cut with City Boy, O’Kenneth, Reggie and Kwaku DMC, has passed 3.7 million views on YouTube and was one of the first Asakaa records to spread beyond the city. “ODO”, with Skyface SDW, is past 2.7 million.
In 2020 he was also part of Yaw Tog’s “Sore” and Kawabanga’s “Akatafoc”, the two songs that took “Kumerica” worldwide. Six years on, he is still releasing music at a steady pace, and “Ensi” is the latest sign that he still has plenty to say.
“Ensi” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
