Biography
Nadia Nakai is a South African rapper and TV personality born on 18 May 1990, with a South African father and a Zimbabwean mother. She finished school in Kenya, where meeting the rapper Nazizi pushed her into rap, and later studied marketing and media at Monash University in Johannesburg.
She was the first woman to win the Mixtape 101 competition on e.tv’s Shiz Niz. Her debut single “Like Me” came in 2013, and she followed it with “Saka Wena” featuring Ice Prince and “The Man” featuring Cassper Nyovest. After the Bragga EP (2016), “Naaa Meaan” (2017), again with Cassper, topped radio charts.
Her debut album Nadia Naked (2019) came with a Showmax documentary, and in 2020 she signed with Def Jam Africa and won Best Female Artist at AFRIMA. Nadia Naked II followed that year and Braggacy in 2025. She has co-hosted Yo! MTV Raps South Africa and appeared on Netflix’s Young, Famous & African.
