M.anifest and Black Sherif - ROAD RAGE cover art

M.anifest and Black Sherif were born twenty years apart. On 29 October 2026 they put out “ROAD RAGE”, a two-man single that runs 2 minutes and 43 seconds and came out through Mass Appeal and M.anifest’s own Singitdamnit Music. Both names sit side by side on the credit, and the release came days after M.anifest played it to a crowd in Accra.

The song is on AfroYard’s song page for “ROAD RAGE” with a 30-second preview and links to every store.

A preview at the Nowhere Cool anniversary

M.anifest first played “ROAD RAGE” at Nowhere Cool at 10, the live show marking a decade since his 2016 album Nowhere Cool. NotJustOk reported that the night’s guests included Worlasi, Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Ko-Jo Cue and Cina Soul. A few days later, on 27 October, M.anifest posted a short clip on YouTube with the words “ROAD RAGE with Black Sherif. Out on Thursday Oct 29th”. He kept that promise to the day.

The anniversary matters. Nowhere Cool came out on 8 September 2016, the same year as “god MC”, the diss record aimed at Sarkodie that won Hip Hop Song of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards. M.anifest was named Best Rapper at the same ceremony. Ten years on, he used the celebration of that period to show what comes next, and he picked a guest who was fourteen when the album was released.

M.anifest and Black Sherif: who brings what

M.anifest is Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, born in Accra in November 1982 and the grandson of the composer J. H. Kwabena Nketia. He built his career in Minnesota before moving home, and his catalogue runs from Apae (2013) through The Gamble (2019) and Madina to the Universe (2021) to New Road and Guava Trees, released in March 2025.

Black Sherif is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, born in Konongo-Zongo in January 2002. “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon” made him the most talked-about young artist in Ghana in 2021, and “Kwaku the Traveller” topped Apple Music in Ghana and Nigeria the following year. His second album Iron Boy (April 2025) earned him a BET Award nomination, and he released the SUN SHERIF EP only weeks before this single.

Early write-ups have read the song as a road-trip metaphor for ambition and drive. One piece set M.anifest’s measured delivery against Black Sherif’s more intense style, which fits what each man is known for: dense, careful verses on one side, and on the other the hooks that made the Sermon records spread. The lyric video on M.anifest’s channel lets fans follow every line.

The Mass Appeal credit

The copyright line on Apple Music reads “Mass Appeal/Singitdamnit Music”. Singitdamnit is the label M.anifest has used for years, including for Nowhere Cool. Mass Appeal is the New York company co-founded by Nas, and its name sits first on this release. The Linkfire page for the single lists Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube Music, and the song is also on Audiomack.

The timing is sharp. Black Sherif has been visible all year with SUN SHERIF and his feature on Davido’s Oriadé, while M.anifest spent the autumn on his anniversary. Putting the two together lets each borrow some of the other’s audience: older listeners who came up on Apae and Nowhere Cool, and a younger crowd raised on the Sermon records.

Where it leaves both artists

For M.anifest, “ROAD RAGE” is new music in a year he has mostly spent looking back, and it hints that the anniversary year might end with more than a concert. He has not announced a new album. For Black Sherif, it is a guest spot that sits outside his usual run of solo singles, on a record built around another artist’s milestone.

Start with the lyric video, then go back to Nowhere Cool and “Kwaku the Traveller” back to back. The ten years and twenty years between them are the whole point of this record.
