Ofori Amponsah has remixed “Jane”, and the new version has opened an argument. The highlife singer released “Jane (Remix)” featuring Kurl Songx on 23 October 2026, with a music video directed by Director K that passed 50,000 YouTube views in its first two weeks. Within days, a post attributed to Daddy Lumba’s son Calvin Fosuh accused him of disrespecting the late legend’s legacy.

Ofori Amponsah “Jane” remix: the song and its history

The original “Jane” is credited on streaming services to Daddy Lumba and Ofori Amponsah, and a 2020 audio slide on the Official Daddy Lumba YouTube channel carries both names. Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, died on 26 July 2025 at the age of 60. Wikipedia describes him as one of the most influential Ghanaian musicians of all time.

The remix keeps the name and brings in Kurl Songx, a younger singer. The video description says it blends “the warmth of Ghanaian Highlife with contemporary Afro-Pop sounds”. It runs 4 minutes and 45 seconds and is released by 4 Reez Westside Entertainment. Apple files it under highlife.

The objection

Yen.com.gh reported that Calvin Fosuh, described as Daddy Lumba’s first son, posted: “My father may be gone, but that doesn’t mean you get to disrespect him. Some lines should never be crossed.” Yen noted that the exact link between the remix and Daddy Lumba’s work had not been fully explained when the post spread, and as of early November we had not seen a public response from Ofori Amponsah.

Remixing songs connected to a dead artist is always sensitive in Ghana, and more so when the family is still grieving and questions of rights and credit are unsettled. AfroYard will update this piece if either side makes a statement.

Who Ofori Amponsah is

Samuel Ofori Amponsah, also known as Mr. All 4 Real, is from Agogo in the Ashanti Region. Wikipedia counts fourteen solo albums, the most recent listed being Million Dollar (2020), and describes him as one of the best highlife musicians of the century so far. “Dua Koro” (2020) has more than two and a half million views on his channel, and in August 2026 he released “Odo Nwom (Remix)” with Stonebwoy and KiDi.

That KiDi and Stonebwoy remix showed his plan for 2026: take his catalogue and pair it with younger names. “Jane (Remix)” follows the same idea, and this time it touches a song with Daddy Lumba’s name on it.
