When Kamafo released his debut EP in February 2025, he told his Instagram followers something most rappers would keep quiet. “Most of these songs were recorded over five years ago, yet they still sound insane like they were recorded today,” he wrote.
Five years is a long time in rap. Production dates quickly, and a verse that sounded sharp in one year can sound borrowed by the next. Holding songs back that long and then releasing them unchanged is a bet on your own taste. This is a guide to the man who made it.
Who is Kamafo?

Kamafo’s real name is Berfenda Duodu. He is a Ghanaian rapper who makes hardcore rap, and his releases come out through Asuafuo Inc. On Instagram he goes by Drencho, with a bio three words long: “baptizing hood souls”. His YouTube channel carries a longer version of the same idea, “Moving hoodbois to ghetto heaven”.
He has said little in public about his background, and there is no long interview to draw on. What follows comes from his catalogue and from his own posts.
First credits: Jove Kente and BlvckGoldNation
He first turns up on streaming services as a guest. He is on Dabright’s “Emergency” from 2021, and after that on a string of BlvckGoldNation records led by Jove Kente. “Sika” came in 2022 with il-lifa also on it. “Free My Mind” and “Boss Chick” followed, then “Crucifix” in September 2024. When Jove Kente released the EP The Genesis Period in May 2024, Kamafo was on three of its tracks.
The same names keep returning in his own work. il-lifa and NanaMilla are the guests on “Suspects” from 2023 and again on “Off Hype” in 2025. Jordanbeatz, who is credited on BlvckGoldNation’s “Slow”, is the producer of his EP.
The singles
His own releases started in July 2022 with “Odeshi Season 1”, which lasts a minute and a half. “Bread of Life” followed that December and runs just under two minutes. Both are short and have no guests, and “Bread of Life” has a full music video on his channel.
The record that put his name in front of the most people is not his own. In September 2023 he shared the billing with Kweku Smoke on “Mayeshe”, from Smoke’s PLAYMAN. Three years on it is still the first song on Kamafo’s Spotify top tracks.
2024 was his busiest year. “Years of Tears” came in March, “Warzone” with Kwame Yesu in June and “Shutup!” in September. In December he was one of six guests on “The Rap-Up”, an eight-minute cypher put together by FulLCircL Mgt.
THE IMMERSION
THE IMMERSION came out on 21 February 2025. It has six tracks and runs for about 18 minutes.
He takes the opener, “The Last Record”, alone. Kweku Smoke returns the favour from “Mayeshe” on “Fie Nipa”. Nsogbu Malaika is on “It’s Up” and QV on “Ten Toes”. “Nazareth Nyame”, with FreddyWyse, is the longest song at just over three and a half minutes. The EP closes with “Shutup!”, the single from the previous September.
Jordanbeatz produced, mixed and mastered all six songs, so one pair of hands shaped the whole record. George Agyeman, Purple-Child Creations and Apollo Management are credited as executive producers.
As for the bet, the early evidence is in his favour. Three songs from the EP are in his Spotify top tracks: “Fie Nipa”, “Ten Toes” and “It’s Up”.
Church words, street subjects
Read his titles in a row and a pattern shows. “Bread of Life”. “Nazareth Nyame”. “Crucifix”, as a guest. An EP called THE IMMERSION from a man who says he is baptizing hood souls. He raps about the street, but he reaches for the vocabulary of the church to do it, and the slogan on his YouTube channel puts the two side by side: hoodbois and heaven.
Since the EP
He has kept to singles since. “Off Hype” arrived in December 2025. “On Yo Necks” followed in March 2026, and in April he and QV appeared on SC4’s “Hell’s Kitchen”, which runs past five minutes. He has about 18,600 monthly listeners on Spotify.
His YouTube channel also holds material that is not on the streaming services, including a video for a song called “FireFly”, a cover titled “Saint Obi” and a studio session cut of “Warzone” with Kwame Yesu.
Where to start
“Mayeshe” and “Fie Nipa” are the way in, since both pair him with Kweku Smoke. After that, THE IMMERSION takes 18 minutes from start to finish, and “On Yo Necks” shows where he is now. You can preview the EP and his singles on his AfroYard profile.
