Akwaboah released two singles in eight days in October 2026. “Pressure” came out on 9 October, and “Odo Ankasa”, featuring Kwesi Arthur, followed on 16 October. The title means “true love”, and GhanaMotion described it as a highlife song about loyalty through life’s ups and downs, with Akwaboah singing and Kwesi Arthur taking the rap verse.

The pairing joins two different corners of Ghanaian music. Akwaboah is a highlife singer and songwriter whose 2013 single “I Do Love You” has more than 3.7 million views on his YouTube channel, and Sarkodie signed him to Sarkcess Music in 2016. Kwesi Arthur is a rapper from Tema Community 9 whose “Grind Day” remix with Sarkodie and Medikal became one of the biggest Ghanaian rap songs of the decade.

Both men have Sarkodie in their story, which makes the link less surprising than it first looks.

The release

“Odo Ankasa” runs 3 minutes and 52 seconds and is released on Akwaboah Music, his own label. The video went up on his YouTube channel on release day and had passed 30,000 views by early November. Apple files the song under Afrobeats, and Akwaboah’s own hashtags call it highlife.

The video description begins “Ahead of his much anticipated” and then links his album Lighthouse, an 11-track record released on 24 November 2023. GhanaSongs reported that Akwaboah presented the new single as a step towards a bigger project, though no title or date has been announced. Some outlets have described Lighthouse as upcoming, but streaming services show it has been out since November 2023, so treat any new album talk as unconfirmed for now.

Kwesi Arthur’s year

Kwesi Arthur’s debut album Son Of Jacob came out in 2022 and This Is Not The Tape III in 2024. He has won Rapper of the Year and Hip Hop Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards, and he was the second Ghanaian after Sarkodie to be nominated for the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. A guest verse on a highlife love song is a softer setting for him, which is part of the appeal.
