AratheJay “Wings”: the credits

The performance video credits direction to Samuel Ofei, with Director Agba and Nick Ninson assisting and Director Agba on the edit. AratheJay’s own songwriting credits use the name Samuel Ofei Ankrah Badu, so the director’s name matches the artist’s first names. The copyright line on Apple reads “℗ 2026 AratheJay”, which makes it a self-released record. A separate lyric video was posted by Mandara Entertainment on 25 October.

Apple files “Wings” under Afro-fusion. AratheJay’s music is often described as a mix of highlife, Afrobeats and hip-hop with a spiritual streak. The Native’s profile of him ran under the headline “AratheJay wants to find God”.

Who AratheJay is

Samuel Ofei Ankrah Badu was born in Sekondi-Takoradi, according to Ghanaian profiles. His stage name came from school, where an older student called him “Ara the Junior”, and he later shortened it to AratheJay. He also performs under a second persona, Nimo K. Constantine, a name that nods to the highlife great Koo Nimo and to the Roman emperor Constantine.

His breakout single was “Sankofa”, which got a public co-sign from King Promise. “Jesus Christ” made him a name, and “Jesus Christ 2” brought in Black Sherif. Apple Music picked him for its Up Next programme in Ghana. He also appears on KiDi’s album Where Do We Go From Here.

A busy 2026

“Ara No Dey Sleep” opened his year with a visualizer that passed a million views. CHRISTO DISCO arrived on 31 July with songs including “15TH JULY”, produced by Hendrix and Noisey, and “SUMSUM”. “Wings” is not on the EP; Apple lists it as a separate single. In November he also features on “GEN Z II” with Fameye, Joey B and Sarkodie, due on 12 November.

Watch the performance video, then go back to “Jesus Christ”. The faith is the same, and the confidence has grown.
