Stonebwoy went home and did not leave the stage until Saturday had become Sunday. Hours after bowing before President John Mahama at the Hogbetsotso grand durbar, the BHIM Nation president headlined Lalana Beach Resort in Anloga on Saturday 7 November, and a live stream from the beach shows him still performing to a packed crowd at midnight.

It was the climax of a day that belonged to him as much as to any chief. The Anloga-born dancehall star, real name Livingstone Etse Satekla, spent the day in kente among the dignitaries at the 64th Hogbetsotso Za, then carried the festival into the night with a set that brought surprise guests, a moment of respect from a fellow artist and a crowd that videos from the beach describe in one word: massive.
Stonebwoy’s Lalana Beach night
The show was billed for 8pm, but the beach did not wait for him quietly. When he walked out, fans filmed what several YouTube channels called a “grand entrance”, and by Sunday morning the clips were spreading: Stonebwoy working the stage back to back, fans singing along to the hits.
Two guests turned the night into an event. The dancehall artist Larruso joined him on stage and, in a moment captured by several cameras, bowed to Stonebwoy after being invited up. Later, Mr Drew, the singer behind “Steeze” with Medikal, made a surprise appearance of his own.
MzVee was also billed for the night, according to the Ghana News Agency.
From the durbar to the beach
The concert capped a day of ceremony in Anloga. At the grand durbar, held under the theme “Anlo, Our Heritage and Our Values: Striving to Build One Ghana for a Better Tomorrow”, Stonebwoy arrived in kente and bowed before President Mahama in a gesture that quickly went viral. The Yagbonwura, Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, overlord of Gonja, was billed as special guest of honour, invited on behalf of Togbi Sri III, the Awoamefia of Anlo.
Hogbetsotso commemorates the escape of the Anlo people from the rule of King Agorkoli at Notsie, in present-day Togo, and is celebrated every first Saturday of November. Ahead of the weekend, Stonebwoy had called it “the biggest festival” and told fans: “See you at Lalana Beach, Anloga on Nov. 7th.”
Lalana Beach, one year on
The night carried extra weight because of what happened at the same venue a year ago. In November 2025 Stonebwoy played Lalana Beach Resort for the Hogbetsotso concert, a show he described before it as his first performance in his hometown. That night drew a massive audience, and fans filmed him trading freestyles with Cina Soul on the same stage.
This time he came back as the festival’s headline act, with the durbar still fresh in everyone’s mind. For an artist who won a BET Award in 2015, has long carried Ewe culture into his music and recorded “Manodzi” with Benin’s Angélique Kidjo, the beach in Anloga remains the one stage that is truly his.
What’s next for Hogbetsotso weekend
The festival is not finished. Shatta Wale headlines the Hogbetsotso Sunday Beach Concert at Eli Beach Resort & Hotel in Tegbi tonight, Sunday 8 November. EdemFest, which had been planned for Emancipation Beach on Saturday, was postponed by Volta Regime Music Group, with a new date still to be announced.
