Kawabanga “Sama Me”: the credits
The official audio description is short: “KAWABANGA – SAMA ME (OFFICIAL AUDIO). PROD. BY: THRXLL”, tagged #trapakan. The copyright line on Apple reads “℗ 2026 1800 REC / TRAPAKAN Recordings, Inc.”. Apple currently lists the single twice, under two different IDs, for the same song.

An Asakaa original
Kawabanga is a drill rapper from Santasi in Kumasi and a member of the Asakaa Boys, the group behind the Kumerica movement. He went to Kumasi High School and records with Life Living Records, the home studio known as the Trap House where Asakaa took shape.
His 2020 single “Akatafoc”, with O’Kenneth, Reggie and Jay Bahd, was one of the two songs, alongside Yaw Tog’s “Sore”, that took Ghanaian drill beyond Kumasi and onto international playlists. He is also on crew records such as “Ma Drip” and “Y3 Y3 Dom” with Skyface SDW, Kwaku DMC and City Boy. “Calling”, his 2021 posse cut with O’Kenneth, Jay Bahd, Sean Lifer, Reggie and City Boy, has close to half a million views.

Projects so far
His projects are God Bless Kawabanga (2022) and Been One (2023). Since then he has kept to singles: “Akatafoc Nsem, Pt. 3”, “Adwaman”, “Kwabena Sarfo” with Dikoo, Kofi Jamar and Trig Triga, and “Geeking”. He also appears on Kofi Kinaata’s “Live Life”.
“Sama Me” is fresh, so the numbers are still small. It lands in a week when the wider Asakaa crew is busy too: his fellow member Kwaku DMC shared “Room 6” with Globalboy Collin in late October.
