Kweku Smoke has a habit of giving himself albums for his birthday. Born in Hell came out on 4 September 2024, his birthday, according to a Charts Africa review. Two years later to the day, on 4 September 2026, he released NO DAYS OFF.
The title explains itself. This is a 13-track album about the grind, released on his own Scatter Der label, and it runs about 33 minutes. Not one song passes the three-minute mark. There is not much room for filler, and Kweku Smoke does most of the work alone.
Only three guests
For a rapper with his connections, the guest list is small. Dikoo joins him on “Mmereniho”. Kwesi Arthur shows up on “Power House”. Lasmid closes the album on “Faith”, which was released as a single on 28 August, a week before the album.
The Kwesi Arthur feature has some history behind it. Kwesi Arthur was also on Snoop Forever, the 16-track album Kweku Smoke released in December 2020, when he was still with Krakye Geng. That record had ten different guests, including Sarkodie, Efya, Joey B and D-Black. NO DAYS OFF is almost the reverse.
The Scatter Der years
Since moving to Scatter Der in 2024, Kweku Smoke has been releasing on his own terms. Kweku Jesus came first, in March 2024: ten tracks, no features, and a number one on iTunes in Ghana. Born in Hell followed in September, also ten tracks and also with no guests. Charts Africa rated it 8 out of 10.
WALK WITH ME in October 2025 opened the door a little, with AratheJay and Vic Mensa. NO DAYS OFF keeps that balance: mostly solo, with a few carefully chosen names.
It has been described as a statement of intent in an industry where momentum can be short-lived, and that fits a rapper who has released four full projects in under three years on his own label.
What it sounds like
The album mixes Ghanaian hip-hop, trap and hiplife. The titles tell you where his head is: “Soul Healer”, “Halleluyah”, “Survivor”, “Life Of A Hustler”, “Set it Straight”, “Through The Pain” and the title track itself. Faith and struggle sit together throughout.
He writes in Twi, English and Pidgin, and two titles here, “Okwantunii” and “Mmereniho”, are in Twi. That mix has been part of his style from the start. His music draws on growing up in Berekum, and he once named a rice seller called Yaayaa, whose kindness helped him through hard times, in his song “Holy Ghost”.
On production, Mog Beatz produced “Faith”, and Kayomi, who also worked on Born in Hell, handled “Bombele”.
How it has done so far
By late September, NO DAYS OFF had already passed 3.8 million plays on Audiomack. That is a strong start for a rap album with so few features, and it suggests his audience follows him, not his guest lists.
It builds on an impressive run. At the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Kweku Smoke won Best Rap Performance and Best Hip Hop Song for “Holy Ghost”, and Best Hip Hop/Hiplife Artist. He has also been nominated for Artiste of the Year and Album of the Year.
Where he came from
Kweku Smoke was born Paul Amankwah. He went to Benkum Senior High School and later studied at KNUST, where he also ran a shuttle service for students. He first released freestyles under the name YRS. His wider breakthrough came in 2019, when a studio introduction led to “Yedin” with Sarkodie.
Seven years later, he has his own label and a catalogue that goes back to 2020, and two of his albums have now come out on his birthday.
