If you have followed Ghanaian rap on Audiomack this year, you have probably heard “Big Bricks II”. Fewer people could tell you much about the man behind it. Essumann is a Tema rapper who has been building his name without a label, and in September 2026 he released his biggest project yet, Ghetto Therapy P.T. II. Here is who he is and where to start.
From Anomabo to Community 9
Essumann has roots in Anomabo, the coastal town in the Central Region, and grew up in Community 9, Tema. He calls Tema home, and the city runs through almost everything he writes.
According to Graphic Online, his sound combines “Ghanaian hip-hop, trap, melodic rap and street-inspired storytelling”, and his subjects are “struggle, ambition, resilience, heartbreak, faith and the pursuit of a better life.” He works as an independent artist, with no major label behind him.
The early catalogue
His discography includes “Ghetto Therapy”, “Cemetery Flow 2” and “One Day”. In September 2024 he released a five-track EP, In My Head Alone But Not Alone.
Big Bricks
The turning point came in November 2025. On 14 November he released “Big Bricks” with Lalid. The song traces a climb from a broken home to a life of comfort, won through hustle and risk.
Then came the sequel. “Big Bricks II”, with Medikal joining Essumann and Lalid, was released in February 2026. AmeyawDebrah.com called it a viral hit, and Graphic Online reported that it had recorded millions of plays on Audiomack. Fans praised the chemistry between the three rappers. For an independent act, landing Medikal on a record and having it take off is a big step.
Ghetto Therapy P.T. II
In September 2026, Graphic Online reported that Essumann was teasing a new project on social media while keeping the details quiet. It arrived on 25 September: Ghetto Therapy P.T. II, an 11-track tape that runs just under 30 minutes and picks up the thread of his earlier “Ghetto Therapy”.
“Intro” and “Pray For Me” open it on a personal note. From their titles alone, “Too Many Riches”, “Push To Start”, “Second Chance” and “Get Rich” carry on the hustle-and-ambition story that “Big Bricks” told. “Big Bricks II” sits at track five.
The guest list shows how much his standing has grown in a year. Medikal and Lalid are on “Big Bricks II”. AratheJay and Kojo Trap join him on “Too Many Nights II”. Quamina Mp and Kofi Mole feature on “On Ma Mind”, and a solo bonus version of that song closes the tape.
Where to start
Start with “Big Bricks II”. It is the song that brought most people to him, and it tells you quickly what he does well. Then play Ghetto Therapy P.T. II from the top. If you like it, go back to In My Head Alone But Not Alone to hear where he was two years earlier.
Essumann is on YouTube and X, and his full catalogue, with previews, is on his AfroYard artist page.
